Hi, my name is Allegra! I am a registered dietitian, Italian-American metro Detroiter, and the creator behind The Italian Dietitian’s Kitchen! Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I share some of my favorite recipes, nutrition tips, and everything Italian food and culture.
Here you will find a variety of recipes influenced by my Italian-American upbringing. Some recipes come straight from Nonna’s kitchen while others may be influenced by other cultures and flavors I have found to love over the years. I’m a firm believer that nutrition should not be restrictive. There is joy that comes with eating fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, but there is also joy that comes with eating pizza with your friends or enjoying a cookie (or two) to satisfy a sweet tooth. My hope is to promote just that through the recipes featured on this blog. Along the way, I hope you also feel inspired to get creative in the kitchen, to take the time and enjoy the foods you eat, and live a full and happy life!
A little bit about me: I graduated from Michigan State (go green!) with a bachelors in dietetics and a minor in Italian. When I’m not cooking, I am usually painting, running, or spending time with family and friends. I have a miniature dachshund named Derwin who is the light of my life. I love my family more than anything in the world!
Thank you for checking out my site! I hope you find something you like 🙂
